Nice write up, i 100% agree. Mason has been as good as we could of hoped for. It's a good feeling to finally have a top notch tender. When the Flyers traded for Mason last season and i got to watch him play, ya could just tell that he was the real deal and this is what the Flyers have been missing.

I can't even imagine what this guy would look like if we had two more defensemen who could skate/retrieve pucks at an above-NHL average level, so opposing offenses would have fewer opportunities to set up forechecks and pressure the defense for turnovers.

I have no doubt whatsoever, zero, we're seeing a guy who, at worst if/when regression hits, is capable of being the starter for this team for years to come.

He's only 25 years old, 6-4. Even if/when regression hits, he should still be able to provide us with the level of goaltending his predecessor did, and that was good enough to win games and get the Flyers to the playoffs.

He's been that good for the Flyers.

He has been very good.....hopefully it continues and the Flyers can get him locked up to a "responsible" contract......tricky situation for sure.....with his play and the emergence of Cal Heeter I do wonder if the Flyers move Emery sometime around the Olympics ?

now that the rest of the team seems to be getting their sh!t together, hopefully the Goal and D keep on track and we start rattling off wins like the roster looked like we would.

Just kidding
Mason is the highlight of the season so far.
Props to him for grabbing his chance to make good here.
And to Homer and Reece as well.

Also what was the deal that brought Mase in? Wasn't it like a 4th rounder?

mason has been playing great and i hope it continues.... but i doubt it will have any effect over the canadian olympic team. management is looking for goaltenders that are proven winners. i just don;t know if world junior gold and the calder trophy are enough. but hey.. i've been known to be wrong.

So far this season he's outplayed Bob. I'm excited to see if Mase will have superior stats to Bob at the end of the season.

Fully agreed. I mentioned on Panaccio's blog that I doubted his inferring that mason was upset with his team because they let up at the end. Pointing out that Giroux has stated earlier that Mason has been the biggest teammate supporter during this offensive crisis. And as you said, I think Mase's struggles with Columbus have made him a better player and teammate.

When I was growing up I was pretty bad at sports. Whenever I made mistakes I had everyone getting on me about them. So I stopped playing a never got any better. Then I started playing with my friend Jerry. Jerry was a huge sports fan and I'd always go play football, basketball, even hockey with him. And whenever he hit me right in the numbers and I'd drop the ball in the End Zone. He'd pound his chest and say, "That's my bad, This is a team sport and if I can't throw the ball so my teamate can catch it, that's my fault." I played, I learned and I'm a much better athelete because if it. From what G says, Mason does the same thing. If he has to put up shutouts to get this team to take home at least one point he will. That positive teamwork is infectious and I credit it with one of the major reasons they have turned this around. And it comes from Mason's experience with struggling and how to overcome it.

I agree. He looked great against the Jets the other night. Goalies are head cases... And Canada has a number of them to choose from. Sometimes less is more when it comes to crazy (re. Brodeur)... I think Mason carries himself a lot like Marty does, I hope Canada's selection committee recognizes that.

Coburn and Mason trades are steals so far.

Hope there are more to come!

Bill it's so nice to read a positive article about one of our players. It seems the media will search high and low to write something negative.

Ghost is making friends and influencing people...

RPI coach Seth Appert said he believes “Shayne Gostisbehere is the best player in the country right now. (I like) everything about him.”

Mason has been the best player for this team so far this year. What impresses me the most is not his play, but the fact that at least in interviews he has never blamed the team. He has been a great team player. Actually since he's been here his attitude has been great. He is a player that needed a clean start with a new team.

What are the chances that G has played himself off of team Canada?
